 , everything could change, and everything was going to be much better.
  We were going to rebuild this Britian, and the old order was going to
  be broken. In this country, it would never be the same again.”\n\nE
 merging from the destruction of post war England, there was a chance t
 o begin again. The Golden Lane Estate marked a highpoint for the promi
 se of a new society. A new generation of architects, inspired by the M
 odern Movement, had the opportunity to put their ideas into practice. 
 Weaving together personal recollections of a generation, the work recr
 eates a moment in time, full of conviction, and belief in the possibil
 ities of a brave new world.\n\nIn the fourth exhibition of the SUPER E
 STATE PROJECTS, Thomas Haywood’s new work reflects his interest in t
 he relationship between people and place, and a particular moment in t
 ime. Working with images and fragments of conversations, the viewer is
  invited into the thoughts and reflections of a generation, and the co
 mplex relationship between ideals and their realisation. Rather than d
 ocumenting the locale of the estate itself, the installation recreates
  the thinking that nurtured the ideas and design behind the estate.\n\
 nThomas Haywood graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2008, winni
 ng the Photographers’ Gallery Prize for his final show. Solo shows i
 nclude; ‘Daily’ at Wenlock Works, London (2002), ‘R.I.P’ at Ha
 t-on-Wall, London (2003), and ‘Photographs’, at the Jerwood Galler
 y, London (2003). Recent group shows include ‘Mirror Mirror,’ at t
 he Jerwood Gallery, London (2007), and ‘Survey’ at Standpoint Gall
