SUMMARY:Tangerine Dream: ZEITRAFFER - a Barbican Music Library exhibit
 ion
DESCRIPTION:The band Tangerine Dream, founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese
in West Berlin, was formative for the genre of electronic music and, w
ith albums like Phaedra and Rubycon, they laid the foundation for musi
c styles such as Ambient and Trance. Now, at a time when synthesizers
and sequencers are being rediscovered in music and pop culture, the ex
hibition looks at the band's electronic beginnings, fast-forwarding th
rough their 50-year history.\nWith the help of photographs, previously
unpublished articles and video clips from the 1970s, this free exhibi
tion reveals, above all, London's special role in the progression and
development of Tangerine Dream. Original synthesizers from the early
days, as well as music on vinyl and cassette, all invite you to share
in an analogue trip through an important chapter of electronic music h
 istory.\nOpen during Library opening hours between 16 Jan - 2 May, 202
