Barbican and Golden Lane Neighbourhood Forum - drop in at Community Centre

June 8, 2023 from 5pm to 6:30pm
The Barbican and Golden Lane community has applied to become a designated neighbourhood forum so that it can prepare a neighbourhood plan and participate in local planning matters on a statutory basis. Under the government’s Localism legislation, communities can draw up their own plans that become part of the statutory framework for land use. This will be the City of London’s first neighbourhood forum and neighbourhood plan. The application is supported by local residents, councillors, businesses and community groups such as GLERA and the BA. It was agreed at a previous GLERA meeting that we appoint a paid secretary as the voluntary rôle was not a popular one. Following a recent discussion with the Barbican Association, who are also considering a paid appointment, i agreed that I would see if anyone was interested.

please get in touch if you think that you can give some time to this. The work would involve taking and circulating meeting minutes, preparing leaflets and posters and dealing with correspondence. Although that might sound like a lot of work it should not be too onerous.

Hello Tim

Can I ask, how many hours each month/week would this work involve?

Lee

Hi Lee,

It would vary week to week but we were thinking around 2 hours a week.

Tim

Hi again Tim,

I would be interested in chatting with you about this task. I will send you a private message (I just need to 'befriend' you).

Lee

Hi Lee,

Are you still interested? If you are you might like to come to a committee meeting at 7:30pm this Thursday, downstairs at the Community Centre.

Regards, Tim

We have worked out a job description with the number of hours and payments which I attach. This would be good for a student or someone working part time.
