Following an initial meeting with the architects for the site this week, the residents have put together a draft response (attached here). The main issues are that a large two-form entry school (458 pupils) is proposed, although Islington's and CoL's own projections show no demand in Finsbury at present, and that future demand up to 2029 could be accommodated at Moreland School. There are 70 flats proposed on a site that cannot accommodate them. This is potentially three times the maximum density in the London Plan and means they would have to resort to a 14 storey tower block, on the same scale as Great Arthur House, but wedged up close to Basterfield and Stanley Cohen.

The effect of all this is to put immense pressure to over-develop the site in a way that will dominate the Golden Lane Estate and its amenity.

Any comments or input very welcome.
