Free digital tablet training and support for older people living in the City of London

Citysmart is a new Age UK project, funded by the City of London.

Are you over 55, living in the City? Would you like to learn more about the Internet – using email, keeping in contact with friends and family, shopping online, digital photography, Skype – and hundreds of other activities – all for free, with other older beginners just like yourself?

Learn how to do it the easy way – near to your home, using handheld ‘tablet’ computers (provided by us, or bring your own) – supported by an Age UK tutor and a team of enthusiastic young volunteers.

Initially, we have two venues ...

  • City of London Community Education Centre, 99 Golden Lane, EC1Y 0TZ  (Tuesdays: 4 November to 9 December 2014, 10 am to 12).
  • Artizan Street Library, E1 7AF (Mondays: 10 November to 15 December 2014, 2 to 4 pm).

The courses are suitable for all levels – including digital beginners, people who are familiar with the Internet but not with mobile technology, and people who wnat help with a tablet they already own.

Here's how to join us, or ask for more details ...

  • Mob: 079 4947 8210
  • Landline: 020 7272 5512
  • Email: info@citysmart.London
  • Web: http://citysmart.London (under construction)
  • Post: Rick Crust, Age UK East London, 52 The Lawns, N16 8QD
  • Or: contact me right here on this Golden Lane Estate forum.

Not sure what a ‘tablet’ is? They look like this ...

You see them everywhere now. The best known (and most expensive) tablets are iPads. There are dozens of others doing much the same job. We think our free course is the best way for older people to dispel the confusion, with the help of younger people who have no doubts.

Citysmart is managed jointly by Age UK London and Age UK East London in partnership with Age Concern City of London.
