Hey all,

I'm going to be moving into Cullum Welch House shortly and was wondering if there is an in-house laundrette to dry my clothes? I have a washing machine in the flat but the radiators are covered so I won't be able to hang anything on them and obviously can't put anything outside. What does everyone else do?

Welcome to Cullum Welch House Katee (soon!).   The local lauderette is very expensive.  I have a washing machine and find, after it`s spin cycle, the clothes are dry enough to simply hang on a clothes horse.

Yes same here Katee, I have had a washer/ dryer but don't like them. I now have just a washing machine and spin so they can dry easily on clothes horse. The launderette in Barbican is well used. I suppose you could use it to dry off laundry from time to time.

Argos (Old street) sell a nice Scandinavian clothes horse!

Thanks Steve and Christine - I'll be sure to invest in a clothes horse!

:D

Welcome Kate - the Barbican launderette is a bit pricey - but does service washes which can be useful for duvets and heavy items that need their mega size machines.

Sadly the GLE resident's launderette which used to be in the basement of Basterfield House was done away with many years ago.  There's no getting it back as the space was given (without consultation with residents) to the company that runs the swimming pool, to use as a store for rubber gear for divers.
