In memory of events that took place in Paris on Wednesday, 7 January the City of London Police held a two minute silence outside the Guildhall at 10.30 yesterday.

The threat level to the UK remains unchanged. The UK threat level from International Terrorism is currently at severe. This means an attack is highly likely.

Commissioner Adrian Leppard of the City of London Police said:

“Wednesday’s events in Paris have shocked us all and our hearts go out to the families and friends of those murdered in this terrible attack. We at the City of London Police are particularly saddened by the shooting of two fellow police officers.

“Our colleagues in Paris are very much in our thoughts and we send our sympathy and support to them at this terrible time.

“I would like to reassure people that we constantly review our security plans to prevent and respond to terrorist incidents, working with our law enforcement partners across London and the UK”

Please continue to exercise vigilance and report any suspicious behaviour or concerns to our officers or the anti-terrorist hotline 0800 789 321.

In an emergency call 999. For non emergency enquiries call 101.
