Save Bernard Morgan House

City of London

I have recently been taking pictures in the city and had a couple of odd incidents.  I was photographing Heron Tower, near Liverpool Street Station when the security guard came out to ask me what I was doing.  As I was standing in the middle of the road and not on the property that he was guarding, this seemed rather extreme.

This morning I was taking pictures of One New Change near to St Paul's.  I went to the top of the building which has a great roof terrace and was told by the security guard that I could take pictures from the building but not of the building.  All a bit odd, so I took some pictures anyway one of which is on my  blog.  It would be interesting to know of similar experiences.

This is all very worrying, as I`m a pro photographer.  Security measures in the Square Mile now are over the top!

These security guards are often just bored by the lack of anything dramatic going on.

If they thought about it they'd realise there's no harm in taking a few pics.

I had a similar thing happen at the Barbican Art Centre a little while back.

There's no real logic to it, just boredom on the security guards part I reckon.

I'm not sure what the answer is. Telling them 'not to be stupid' probably doesn't help.

:)

Interesting to have another line of thought on this subject!   If you are on public land then that is where problems will always arise.  I personally love living in The Square Mile, so just be sensible when using my camera.  Steve
