Event Description

Dear All,

You are warmly invited to drop in on any of the events during National Carers Week. Do have a look at the timetable.

Open to any of you who help a friend, neighbour, family member, be it in the City or elsewhere.
We know many on the estate don't recognise this support as being a "carer", it's "I'm just a neighbour, husband, wife, stepmum, son, daughter, grandparent, etc helping". Believe it or not, you are a "carer", which can open the doors of support in the City. You are welcome to join in, even if this is your first time.

A request from us for 8th June: Do you know of any residents who would benefit from a Taxi to listen to a choir performing uplifting songs?
at the Holy Sepulchre https://hsl.church/upcoming-events/4cg7 ... 379h-h74hp. We have a small amount of funds from Culture Mile to cover transport costs for residents in the City. Or to cover the cost of replacement care (meaning you need to hire a paid care worker to attend in your place). If you know of anyone who would benefit, please email us by 7th June to arrange. Email CityCarersCommunity@gmail.com

There are groups in the city, from Commissioned services, Imago (2024 in the city), to informal groups like us (since 2020). There is the Parent Carers Forum for any Parent of a child with special educational needs. And a Young carers group.

At a glance:
8th June, 11-12 pm. Zoom. Opening address with Councillor Anne Corbett, Ellie Ward (CoL)
8th June, 1-3pm. Enjoy a choir performance, uplifting songs, dancing queen, plus free tea, coffee and sandwiches. It’s free to attend, but spaces are limited, and so booking is essential. You can bring your friends, neighbours & family too (take the 56 bus or walk). Book Here: https://hsl.church/upcoming-events/4cg7 ... 379h-h74hp
9th June, 10.30am. Visit to the Horizon viewing platform with Imago
9th June 7-8 pm. Zoom. Helping someone regularly. A session where there are no silly questions asking us anything to do with looking after someone, hosted by us
10th June Carers Wellbeing Day at Portsoken 10.30am - 4pm with Imago
11th June . Online. New - Mental Health and Substance Misuse. Session hosted by NHS ELFT. To book, email us.
12th June - Open drop-in session at Ralph Perring room, Golden Lane Estate 10-12.30pm
13th City Carers Community Annual Infamous Quiz. Online
