A model estate - architectural model maker creates a mirrored version of Basterfield House

Architectural modelmaker Maz Weineck has created a model of Basterfield House as a fundraiser for charity Article 25. Maz says, 'This year's theme for humanitarian architecture charity Article 25's 10x10 auction is reflections. I wanted to have some fun with the theme and experiment with using mirror within my art. I decided to use Basterfield House as inspiration after going on a tour of the Golden Lane estate and being shown one the building’s flats as part of Open house festival. I like the idea of making artwork celebrating iconic architecture that is also architecture that means a lot to people. Whilst walking around the estate it was clear how much of a community there was there and how important the development was for the residents. It felt fitting to use my craft skills to make this art because a wonderful thing I discovered at the community centre is…See More

I am sorry to hear this Iain.  Do you know if she will be in hospital over Christmas?

I believe so but staff will not discuss her medical condition with others than family.

Merry Christmas.

No, I understand that.  Lets hope her family are there for her at this time, especially being Christmas.

Alma has moved to St. Joseph's Hospice, Mare St, London E8 4SA, tel 020 8525 6000.  She is in the St Michael Ward on the 1st floor.  Visiting is any time- no fixed hours.

It is with great sadness that I report that Alma passed away early in the morning of Wednesday 27th January 2016.

I am very sorry to hear that Iain. That's very sad.  Thank you for letting us know.

R.I.P. Alma

R.I.P Alma
May you rest in peace.
I will always remember your smiling face, your enthusiastic attitude to life, your love of independence and your truly amazing sense of humour.
You were a lovely neighbour in Hatfield house since I have lived here for over 25 years.May God bless you and keep you safe. ❤

Alma's funeral will be at Golders Green crematorium at 10am on Monday 15th February.  David has asked for no flowers and that any donations be sent to Saint Joseph's Hospice- http://www.stjh.org.uk/donate- who provided excellent care during Alma's last days.

Neighbours and friends attended.  I read her son David, Julie and Samantha's message along with a short message from her sister Bernice.  Sadly her sister Jacky was held up by traffic and ice so only arrived after the service.  I believe Pauline Caveney will be sending out some photos.
We are considering attending to scatter Alma's ashes on the same lawn where Jack's ashes were scattered.  We have David's permission for this.  Her ashes will be kept for 8 weeks, until 11th April 2016, without charge- thereafter a charge of £20 per week.  We are also considering whether a memorial of some sort for both Jack and Alma would be appropriate.  An entry in the Jewish Shrine of Remembrance scroll starts at a mere £85 and might simply say that "Alma Rose nee Finkel and Jack Rose DFM nee Rosenblum had their ashes scattered here on whatever dates" or whatever the family prefer.  I am quite happy to pay for this myself or contribute to whatever is agreed.
I have booked scattering Alma's ashes for Thursday 24th March at 11am at Golders Green crematorium on the Crocus Lawn at plot 3N where Jack's ashes were scattered on 15/9/1997.  We should meet at the office just before 11am.  The attendant can read out anything that we want or we can speak ourselves.
Please let me know if you want to attend- and/or if you want anything said or done to celebrate Alma's life.
