Has anyone else been experiencing problems with reception for the ITV and C4, More 4, E4, etc. channels since New Year?

Ha!ha!  Nathan.  Yes, as long as they are still looking into it we should be very grateful!

When I contacted the Estate Office yesterday, 27.01.14, they knew nothing of it and were advising me to phone MDTV myself. I am not sure how this works because I would have thought any work would need to go on an official order number and would I not have incurred a charge if they came to my flat?

After looking again at this thread (for back up) I went back to the Estate Office (via e-mail) and said others had been experiencing problems and could they look into it. Laurance Jones wass cced in. As I write no one has come back to me. The TV was on the blink again last night and I would urge you all to get onto the Estate Office to get this sorted out, but they do only need to go on here to see for themselves!

Its on the blink as I type, ed 29th jan, 00:42. I read somewhere WMDTV will not come out until at least 3 people from the same block ring up at the same time about the same fault, so it sounds like you have to take their word if they say the 3rd person hasn't rung yet, or they haven't rung in time to counted as the same issue as the first two. This doesn't take into consideration the low occupancy of some blocks, the fact that some people receive cable, sky , TV over internet connection, and some people don't watch TV at all.

The estate office have printed up posters anyway, and put them in the lift lobys telling residents to ring WMDTV, and not to contact the estate office. I have attached a photo of the poster to this message. The poster conveniently lists no other means of contacting MDTV apart from their 08452300028 number which costs according to of com :-

0845

How much do calls cost? Calls are typically charged at between 1p and 11p per minute depending on the time of day for landline customers, and often include a call set-up fee of up to 14p. Calls from mobile phones generally cost between 14p and 41p per minute.

call me cynical, but do I detect a money making scheme to get as many residents to ring the number?

I wish I could remember the cost the corp paid for the re wiring and the new aerial, I vaguely remember the sum of £600,000 or  £1,600, 000 being handed over to the company and its only about 5 or 6 years old. I was considering writing a letter of enquiry to Hiram Abiff, or maybe Common Purpose.

I have learnt from experience anything expressed verbally by the staff at the corp and especially the estate office should be taken with a rather large pinch of salt, in other words not worth spit. It is only valid if committed to pen and paper or email and signed, and even then they will still try to argue that black is white and day is night.

“Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”

And heres a thread bringing the tv aerial problem back to december last year.

Thanks for the information Christine.  The Estate Office are a disgrace - they are no help whatsoever.

Just had a card through the door. A reminder that new 4G mobile signals continue to be activated in your area. There is a small chance this may cause disruption to free view! the television you receive through your Ariel.
CABLE & SATELLITE viewers will not be affected.

For help or more info visit: www.at800.tv/reminder
Call- 0333 31 31 800 or 0808 13 13 800

If we believe this is caused by 4G at 800 MHz we can help you get it working again. You will not be charged for this service.

Usual phone/ mobile charges but check for yourself.

Below  is what it says on their website after answering loads of questions it comes to this conclusion, but as usual it is wishful thinking that anyone at MDTV or the estate office could be bothered to follow this through, or communicate anything, suppose that would be a need to know basis or something, and we don't need to know, after all its only been over 1 month.

This is what I think of when I think of staff on an estate office somewhere over the rainbow,

and what about this one when they are filling up the ash tray in the morning outside their estate office, somewhere over the rainbow of course.

IF YOU LIVE IN A BLOCK OF FLATS AND SHARE A COMMUNAL AERIAL, THE MAINTENANCE OF THE AERIAL IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF YOUR LANDLORD, PROPERTY MANAGER OR RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION REPRESENTATIVE

If you live in a block of flats and share a communal aerial, the maintenance of the aerial is the responsibility of your landlord, property manager or residents’ association representative; he/she is responsible for making sure the system works.  If you have experienced recent interference, please contact us so we can diagnose whether this may be due to 4G.   We may then need your landlord to call at800 so we can provide them with a filter for the communal aerial which should fix the problem. If it is an issue with retuning, they will need to arrange for an aerial installer to do this.  We would recommend you retune your TV set as well – To find out more about a retune, visit www.digitaluk.co.uk/howtoretune. You can find the telephone numbers for our contact centre below…

This is becoming really ridiculous..........

It is in times of adversity, i.e.. (a visit to an  estate office over the rainbow in a parallel universe) I think of the twisted  logic which rules supreme in certain outposts in the city of london, and remember the words,

There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know.

So reading the posts above it looks like the Estate Office need to contact the at800 people, seeing as we have a communal ariel. They determine whether it's the 4G signal causing interference. If not then individuals will need to contact WMDTV themselves...

Ping Pong.. back to the Estate Office to sort out then...

Should it be discovered the 4G signal is not the culprit, I looked up the alternative number for WMDTV on a site that lists non 0845 numbers for companies giving out non-geographical numbers

Metro Digital Television (MDTV)    0845 230 0028  01706 358222    Satellite dishes, aerials & cables
Fax: 01706 350211

Metro Digital Television - MDTV    0845 230 0028  01706 358222    This number is for reporting faults

Has anyone seen their TV go on the blink tonight? My TV has been on for about half an hour and I haven't seen anything so far. I find it VERY coincidental that we should get the at800 leaflet through the door after my recent correspondence with the Estate Office, I bet the leaflets have been in the Estate Office all the time! Did one of my neighbours call at800 and get this fixed (I am presuming it is fixed), if so thanks, OR did the Estate Office pick up the phone?

Thanks goodness for this forum otherwise we would all be wondering in isolation what was being done about the problem!

Thanks Crescent Res.

If you wear ear plugs and squint a lot you hardly notice the difference, and you can fill in the gaps from memory from all the repeats, Déjà vu TV , alzheimer's TV for everyone, everyday its  a brand new schedule, its as if the BBC have no money left after paying their massive salaries, bonuses, expenses and junkets to put anything new on the TV, endless repeats and news propaganda, here we are with not even a decent signal and still paying the extortion money known as the BBC licence fee with no  opt-out clause, and paying for a communal aerial that doesn't work, anyone would think it was  Jodrell bank.
